THE MANAGER – LEIGH ROBINSON

Leigh Robinson was appointed as manager of Tiverton Town in October 2023 as the successor to Martyn Rodgers.

After seeing his playing career with Baldock Town curtailed prematurely by a knee injury, Robinson started out as a manager with Wellington FC, which he combined with working as a PE teacher, where he won the Western League Division One title at the age of 26 in the 2007-08 season.

He then had a spell as joint-manager of Bridgwater Town with Craig Laird in the 2009-10 season before moving on to Taunton Town, who he guided to promotion to the Southern League Premier and the first round of the FA Cup in the 2016-17 campaign.

Stints with Truro City and Dorchester Town then followed before he took charge of Tivvy last season.

PLAYER TO WATCH – ASA HALL

A player who needs no introduction to Torquay United fans, Asa Hall ended 6 seasons on the English Riviera with Torquay United to come to the Ian Moorcroft Stadium in the summer, where he will combine playing with coaching duties. He has a wealth of experience, having made more than 600 competitive games in a 19-year career that began at Birmingham City when they were in the Premier League. He has also plied his trade with seven EFL clubs, as well as three in the National League. Now 37, Asa has also enjoyed two successful Wembley appearances during that time, winning the 2009 Johnstone’s Paint Trophy with Luton Town, and helping York City lift the 2017 FA Trophy. He also won the National League title with Cheltenham Town in 2015-16 and the National League South title with the Gulls in 2018-19.
