TT PREVIEW

Sam discusses the Rebels ahead of the 2024-25 season
LAST SEASON
Last season was an incredible ride full of highs and lows. Ultimately it was all about getting over the line which unfortunately we couldn’t do in a thrilling final against Braintree. However this could be a blessing in disguise with our off field plans being finished in time for the first home game vs Truro on Bank Holiday Monday. This has allowed the time to be ‘National League ready’ when it does eventually happen with a better matchday experience for all and a solid foundation.
NEW MANAGER
We’ve seen some really great interviews on the club website and via the YouTube channel from Chris Agutter. He seems to have lots of new and exciting ideas heading into what will be a very tough league. Agutter was highly praised in the Sussex football scene last season for his positive playing style which is important to the board and us fans too.
SUMMER ADDITIONS
There has been lots of new additions and a squad revamp. Tightening up the defence after conceding so many last year is the main aim.
A new goalkeeper in Chris Haigh, more experience with the likes of Sam Beard & Joe Cook at the back. Also great to see Tommy Willard return after his loan spell last season.
2024-25 THOUGHTS
Any squad would find it challenging losing a goalscoring machine in Ollie Pearce. Joe Felix leaving the club as well was tough to take, although we knew they both deserved the move to York and playing at a higher level.
The retention of Danny Cashman and Jack Spong are huge, alongside our current dressing room leaders in Kane Wills and Joel Colbran. They will be massive in integrating the club culture and spirit for the new lads, overall we have some good balance and great options.
PREDICTIONS
For us I’d be happy with play-offs no matter where we finish up to 7th. I’m predicting Maidstone to win the league. Salisbury to avoid the drop – I’m looking forward to visiting their ground.
For the rest of the league, who knows! It’s so unpredictable I wouldn’t like to say.
