Sam talks about the new striker
Another day, another two announcement videos showcasing our new players having fun around the Bay. I for one, am still loving the 1960’s vibes of the videos, but then again I am just happy for the club to do something positive. The first of the today’s offering was our new striker Jadyn Crosbie, who was having a riveting time down the Paignton Funfair. But who is this new man?
CAREER SUMMARY
So, information on Jadyn’s footballing career was hard to find. However, what I did find is that he spent some time at South Gloucestshire and Stroud College playing for their first team in the BUCS University system. He was also playing for Mangotsfield United in the Premier Division of the Hellenic Football League (Step 5 of the Football League) at the same time. This is where he caught the eye of Wotton and co as he had a breakout year, scoring 37 goals in 48 games as the Mangos finished 13th. He was then snapped up by United to join the new look Yellows.
HIGHLIGHTS
Here is a highlight reel of our new striker from his time at Mangotsfield:

MOST LIKELY/LEAST LIKELY
Most Likely To
- Play with a partner up front. Based on the video above he looks an incredibly physical player, who can bring others into play. Might be the perfect partner for Ash (if he re-signs). 7 assists too isn’t a bad return either.
- Absolutely wear defenders out. He looks like he runs, and runs, and runs and so on. Granted, this is a highlight reel so it’s the best bits but he looks like he is always on the move (and the numbers back that up).
- Be given the nickname “Bing”, I can only assume that’s his favourite internet browser and not any other reason.
Least Likely To
- Hit the ground running from Day 1. The NLS will be a big step up from the Hellenic League so it might take him a while to adjust to the physicality and speed of play. He is only 20 though, so lots of time to grow.
- Have his name spelt correctly. Jayden? Jadon? Jaydn? The “d” is before the “y” people.
CONCLUSION
This is a really interesting signing, and one that I really hope works out (I hope all signings do, but you know what I mean). It also feels very low risk, and a total win-win. If he works out, then we’ve got ourselves a gem on the cheap. If he doesn’t, then we haven’t risked it all on an unproven player. This does feel like the kind of signing we should be making more of, local Lower League player who has shown real potential which is something Gary really didn’t do. Saying that, I wouldn’t be surprised if another forward is brought in (assuming Ash re-signs) as relying on a 20 year old who has never played above Step 5 feels very risky. But good luck to the lad, and I look forward to seeing what he can do.
