Joe looks at players who could join Torquay this summer
HARVEY WILES-RICHARDS
A goalkeeper who impressed on debut against United for Weymouth this season. The Bristol City youth graduate has been released this summer and will likely be looking to settle somewhere in the South West as Number one. Wiles-Richards won many plaudits at Weymouth during an impressive loan stint towards the end of last season conceding only 9 in 12, making 5 clean sheets in that time as well.
RICHARDS STATS – DATE OF BIRTH: 27/05/02, POSITION: GOALKEEPER, BIRTHPLACE: BATH
TOM SMITH
The combative midfielder has been a mainstay in the Bath midfield for the last 5 seasons after being released by Cheltenham Town. Most recognisable as a throwback to the 80s with his ginger mullet, the 2020 NLS player of season won’t be short of offers in the NLS and I’d like to think we’d be high up in the list of clubs making an offer to him.
SMITH STATS – DATE OF BIRTH: 25/02/98, POSITION: MIDFIELDER, BIRTHPLACE: SWINDON
TYLER HARVEY
Of course it’s an easy link to make given the announcement of Paul Wotton as manager. Tyler Harvey has been linked with United for years having scored 110 in 194 appearances for Truro City. The fact that we’ve always been full time has proved a stumbling block as Harvey has a well paid job outside of football, but now as we embark on a new era, which will likely involve a hybrid full-time/part-time model it could be the perfect time for Harvey to come to Plainmoor.
HARVEY STATS – DATE OF BIRTH: 29/07/95, POSITION: STRIKER, BIRTHPLACE: PLYMOUTH

HARRY LEE
Harry is a local lad and a Torquay United fan. Still contracted to Exeter City, the young goalkeeper will be looking to build on a positive loan last season at Weston-Super-Mare and returning ‘home’ to Plainmoor either as a number 1 or number 2 may be ideal scenario for Harry.
LEE STATS – DATE OF BIRTH: 22/12/04, POSITION: GOALKEEPER, BIRTHPLACE: TORQUAY
ZAC BELL
Bell impressed for Taunton last season and many United fans may remember the long throw he has in his armoury, as Taunton applied the pressure in the late stages of our game which secured the safety. As well as having a Rory Delap-esque throw in he is also a really competent wing back, possessing a good engine that can get him up and down the wing. The fact he’s already South West based following his release by Bristol City, makes him a likely candidate as an incoming this summer.
BELL STATS – DATE OF BIRTH: 07/02/03, POSITION: FULL BACK, BIRTHPLACE: WALES
WILL DEAN
Another player that Wotton may look to tempt across the Tamar Bridge is Truro Midfielder Will Dean. The ex-Exeter City player is under contract at Truro but certainly would be tempted by the project at TUFC, playing in front of 2400 every week compared to something more modest at Truro is a no-brainer and if the price is right could see Will making the move. At 23 his best years are ahead of him and someone who United could go on to sell at a profit if he thrives at Plainmoor.
DEAN STATS – DATE OF BIRTH: 07/08/00, POSITION: CENTRE BACK, BIRTHPLACE: HEDGE END
