TT INTERVIEW

Cameron talks about the White Tigers
SEASON SO FAR
I think overall it’s been a good start to the season for us. We are new to the league and I think we have made a good account of ourselves. We have the smallest budget in the division and have arguably the most travelling of any side along with Dover. We’ve had some good performances that haven’t necessarily ended with us getting all three points, but this season was always going to be a challenge for us being a part time side up against full time outfits, but I think we have done well so far.
RECENT FORM
Our form has been great recently. We had a run of 9 games without a win in all competitions but that was put to an end at the end of November and since then we have won four from our last five games including big wins at Chelmsford and Weston. We’ve got a busy Christmas period so we have found our form at the right time.
HIGHLIGHTS
I think the highlight for me so far has to be the recent 3-2 win at Weston-super-Mare. They had won five on the bounce before the game and we had already lost twice to them this season. There’s a big rivalry between the sides. We dominated the game and came from behind with a professional performance to win the game with some great goals.
KEY PLAYERS
Tyler Harvey is the obvious name that comes to mind. He’s recently signed a new long term contract with the club. He’s scored 126 goals in 226 games which is a remarkable record considering a few of the Truro sides he has played in have been way below the standard of the rest of the division. He’s had his injury issues this year but he is always a threat. Connor Riley-Lowe, James Hamon, Ed Palmer and Will Dean are all key players to Wotton’s squad.
THE MANAGER
Paul Wotton is the current Truro manager and has been since 2019. He, like Harvey, signed a new long term deal last month. He has done a brilliant job at Truro achieving promotion last season. We were robbed of promotion twice due to Covid so to finally return to National League South last year was a massive achievement. He’s managed the club in a difficult period away from Cornwall and it’s great to see him be the man to manage us when we return next season.
AWAY FOLLOWING
It’s hard to tell being Boxing Day but we have a strong contingent of loyal supporters from around the country that travel home and away with us and I have no doubt they will be with us at Plainmoor.
BOLITHO PARK
Obviously Bolitho Park isn’t our ground but I think it’s a great set-up. Covered pretty much all the way around with a decent sized main stand. The pitch understandably isn’t the greatest due to two teams playing a high standard of football on it every week but I think it’s a great little non league ground. The club house is great and welcoming. There is a burger van with some nice food on sale.
STRENGTHS OF THE TEAM
You’ll find that one out over the two games but one thing I will say is that Truro have a never say die attitude. They will always fight till the very last whistle.
BEST OPPOSITION
We are in a very good standard of football so you expect to see lots of good teams and players. I was impressed by Hampton & Richmond when we played them. I thought Maidstone, Slough and Worthing were all good opponents too.
PREDICTION
Torquay are a top side with some great players so we know we are in for a tough two games. The Yellows and Yeovil are the two biggest sides in the division and probably two sides who shouldn’t even be at this level. We know we’ll go into the matches as underdogs but I have no doubt the players will give it a good go and look to cause a bit of an upset.
