MEET THE TEAM – Dan Elliott – Contributor

Name: Dan Elliott

Twitter Name: @dan_torquay_man

Why TUFC?: I was born in Torquay and grew up In Kingskerswell so going to Torquay United was always on the cards from a young age.

Year started supported TUFC and 1st game?: I’m that old now that I can’t remember my first game, I would have to say it would have been in 1990 as that year for me with England and the World Cup was when I really got into football, so my parents would have taken me then!

Favourite all-time TUFC players?: Rodney Jack, Justin Fashinu, Matt Elliott, Gareth Howells, Asa Hall

Best TUFC memory?: 1991 Play Off Final Vs Blackpool. It was my first time to Wembley and what an experience!! Incredible game and an amazing experience. I was only 9 and I was hooked for life! I remember walking out of the ground and there was a guy back then at the games that would ring a bell, like you would find at school to say it’s the end of lunch, and as we were exiting the stadium he was ringing the bell as we all walked back to the coaches, never felt or experienced anything like that before!

Worst TUFC memory?: Play off Final 1998, what an awful game! After the high of the semi final second leg at home the final was an absolute stinker! Rodney Jack was double man marked which I had never seen before or since! Two players on him the whole game, he didn’t get a sniff and we never got going! Painful viewing that day!

Favourite spot at Plainmoor?: Popside with the singing congregation. I have to stand up at Torquay games, I can’t sit still at all. Being a supporter the key word from that is support, so a little sing along and cheer the boys on is part of it! My son and I travel home and away and singing along with The Yellow Army, we wouldn’t have it any other way!

Other: Dan is keen NFL fan and supports the Denver Broncos.

I simply live and breathe Football and have supported Torquay United since 1989. I am a season ticket holder on Bristows and a Trust member. I set up TorquayTalk in 2017 to give true supporters a voice and honest opinions on their club.
