Let’s take another look at some prospects that could turn up at Plainmoor for the start of 23/24, this time it’s Exeter City…
EXETER CITY
HARRISON KING
Having signed a professional contract with the Grecians in May earlier this year, King made his Exeter City debut in the Papa Johns Trophy against Southampton U21s before appearing in the same competition against Forest Green Rovers. Harrison gained first team football experience at Plymouth Parkway on loan until the end of last season.
Harrison is described as a versatile player, playing as RB as well as CM, he has captained the Exeter City U18s on multiple occasions. Head of Coaching Brad-Lee Miller quoted “We are delighted to have offered Kingy the contract and that he has accepted it. Harrison has had a fantastic academy journey with us and some fantastic experiences along the way. He is a polite and well-mannered young man and he works very hard at his game”.
He is clearly well-regarded as a promising talent and a chance to gain experience at Plainmoor in the NLS could be a good deal for all involved.

GABE BILLINGTON
Gabe signed his first professional contract with the Grecians in March 2023, having featured in the club’s Papa Johns Trophy games against Southampton U21s and Forest Green Rovers, in the latter he started his first game for City.
Exeter City were keen for Gabe to experience first team football and he was sent to Poole Town & Plymouth Parkway at the beginning of the year, where his performances earnt him his first professional contract at the League One club.
Just like Harrison, Gabe can play in multiple positions and with the Grecians keen on getting him more experience in men’s football, he could be one for Gary Johnson to keep an eye on. Listening to his interview signing his first professional contract, he seems very switched on and is willing to work hard to progress in the professional game.

MITCH BEARDMORE
Mitch started his career at Yeovil, working up through their academy which closed down in 2020. He joined Exeter’s academy soon after and made his debut for the club under Kevin Nicholson in their Papa Johns Trophy game with Forest Green Rovers.
Mitch was included in Gary Caldwell’s first team squad seven times in the 22/23 season, albeit not featuring in any of the clubs league games. He scored in the Grecians 3-1 defeat in the FA Youth Cup and manager Caldwell commented that “A lot of them have impressed me, but he (Mitch) has stood out for me with his quality of possession and work ethic. He has that little bit of aggression and personality which you need to be a top player”.
Mitch can play as a wing back as well as an attacking midfielder and a move to Plainmoor could provide the perfect place for the youngster to gain experience in the men’s game and progress his career further in professional football.
