Let’s take another look at some prospects that could turn up at Plainmoor for the start of 23/24, it’s time to look at our now Championship neighbours down the road, in Plymouth Argyle…
PLYMOUTH ARGYLE
OSCAR HALLS

Born in Penzance, Oscar joined Argyle as an Under-10 through the Cornwall Centre of Excellence program, signing his first ever professional deal with the Greens on his 17th Birthday. The Central Defender has made six appearances for the first team, all in the Papa John’s Trophy, scoring one goal away at Swindon Town and featuring up until the semi-finals of the competition.
At the time of writing, Oscar is the captain of the Under 18’s and looks to be one for the future in the Argyle ranks, a loan move to TQ1 could be beneficial for both sides in his development in first team football and our ambitions of an immediate return to the National League. With the aid Dean Moxey alongside him, he would provide a very useful option in United’s ranks at the back.
AGE: 18 – POSITION: CENTRE BACK – APPEARANCES/GOALS (SENIOR TEAM): 6/1
JACK ENDACOTT

Nephew of Katherine Endacott, gold medallist in the 4×100 metres relay at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi, Jack is another youth prospect with experience in the Papa John’s Trophy, making six appearances in the competition and featured from the bench in Plymouth’s 3-1 home victory over MK Dons in League One on New Years Day. Quotes from manager Steven Schumacher regarding his appearance included:
“We changed our shape slightly and got Jack on, who has got great energy and a lovely left foot.
“I’m pleased for him, I didn’t know it was his league debut. I thought he had been on before. He has been with the group through pretty much the whole time.
“That’s another academy product with a league appearance so that’s good for everyone.”
Playing as a left wing back, the 18 year old could help piece the puzzle of a lack of pace in our squad and would provide different attacking options should Gary Johnson decide to acquire his services for the season ahead.
AGE: 18 – POSITION: LEFT WING BACK – APPEARANCES/GOALS: 8/0
CALEB ROBERTS

Another of Argyle’s most promising talents, Caleb was only 16 years old when he made his first team debut, making a substitutes appearance against Arsenal’s Under 21 squad in the Papa Johns Trophy in November 2021 and signing professionally on his 17th Birthday.
He made his debut and only League One appearance off the bench in Argyle’s 1-0 win away at Cheltenham but has also featured in the FA Cup and Papa John’s Trophy, the latter where he found more time on the pitch, making three appearances and scored his first ever first team goal in Argyle’s 3-2 win over Charlton Athletic in a team led by captain Adam Randell.
Predominately playing in midfield, Caleb is a versatile player and likes to push forward when he can and at just 17 years old, a loan move to Plainmoor could provide himself an excellent place to develop his career and provide us with more options should injuries dictate, in what we hope will be a title challenging season for Gary Johnson’s team.
Described as an “Exciting Talent” within the Argyle ranks, I’m sure many clubs in the South West will have one eye on his progress.
AGE: 17 – POSITION: ATTACKING MIDFIELDER – APPEARANCES/GOALS: 5/1
