Let’s take another look at some youthful prospects that could turn up at Plainmoor for the start of 23/24, it’s onto PSF game 5 we go and Southampton B team…
SOUTHAMPTON B
MATT CARSON
Northern Irish left back Matt Carson moved to Saints in 2020 from Glentoran, and was part of the U18s team that won the Premier League South in 2021-22. He then made the step up to the B team and played 6 times in the Premier League 2 and once in the EFL Trophy last season. He has also represented Northern Ireland at U16, U18 and U19 levels, and played in 3 Euro Championship Qualifiers in 22/23. His progress was rewarded with a pro contact in March 2023.

WILL TIZZARD
Will Tizzard has been at Southampton since the age of 10, and progressed through the ranks to the B team in 2021. The centre back was then loaned to Chippenham last season and made 22 league appearances for the NLS team, and also played in the FA Cup 2nd Round. Will’s contract is due to expire at the end of this month. With good experience of the league already a move for the defender would make sense for the Gulls.

FEDEL ROSS-LANG
Fedel Ross-Lang joined Saints after time at Man City’s Academy in 2020. He was highly rated and signed his first pro contract at 17 years of age soon after. Like Carson he was part of the Premier League South winning campaign with the U18s, before moving up to the B Team in 2022 and playing 4 times in Premier League 2 last season. Like Tizzard, Fedel’s contract would appear to be up this summer with the Saints.

HARVEY WOODS
Harvey Woods has been at Southampton since 2012 and moved up to the B team in 2022. Since then he has been loaned out to Southern League teams AFC Totton and Poole Town to gain experience and is described as ‘comfortable playing either as a 9 or on the flanks’.
