OPPOSITION Q&A

“The matchday experience is a warm welcome”
Jamie answers our questions on Aveley FC, matchdays at the Parkside and more, as we start to look ahead to 23-24
THE GROUND
It is better than what everyone expects, newly built in 2017, has two bars at the ground and an additional outside bar next to one of the goals. Friendly atmosphere and lots of covered places to stand or sit.
HISTORY OF THE GROUND
Aveley FC moved into Parkside at the beginning of the 2017/18 season – since then we have achieved an FA Trophy Quarter Final at Notts County, two promotions and our first League Cup since 1989.
THE MATCHDAY EXPERIENCE
The matchday experience is a warm welcome, the early football kick off live in the bars, bar and food outlets both open.
SEGREGATION
We have not yet had to enforce segregation – however, the ground was built in a way where it is easy to implement if needed. With our two bars indoors too, the segregation will work perfectly when required.
PRICES
Adults £15, Seniors (65+) £10 & U16s £5.
FOOD AND DRINK OPTIONS
In the village there are a couple of pubs that open at 12pm. The Crown & Anchor and The Old Ship Inn on the High Street.

GETTING TO THE GROUND
Parking is good, we have 220 spaces on site first come first served, we have places in the car park specifically for supporters coaches.

By Train:
C2C stations Ockendon and Rainham are the closest and most accessible to get to Parkside. Available to access from both Fenchurch Street/Liverpool Street and Southend Central.
Ockendon Station: The station is around 2.9miles away from Parkside, however, on Saturdays the Number 22 Bus runs from Elan Road to Hanford Road and the ground is a 3 minute walk from the Hanford Road bus stop.
Rainham Station: The station is around 4 miles away, and on matchdays there are 3 TFL 372 Buses an hour that take around 15 minutes to get to St Pauls Close and into Aveley, followed by a ten minute walk either through the Village centre or down the Aveley Bypass.
MOST ANTICIPATED AWAY DAYS
As a club I think you can’t look past Torquay and Yeovil Town. The older supporters will look forward to a second trip to Yeovil Town, with the last coming in 1971 in the FA Cup.
EXPECTATIONS FOR 23/24
We know we’re the underdogs, but after being predicted for relegation last season in the Isthmian Premier League, and finishing fourth and winning promotion via the Play-offs, we are more than happy for everyone to write us off.
