FIVE BIG DISCUSSION POINTS ON TORQUAY UNITED
1 – RUAIRI KEATING
Since the Irishman joined he has shown some promising glimpses in his brief sub appearances, so there has been inevitable clamour for him to feature more. Nico gave him about 15 minutes at Southport, and was rewarded with a big 3 Points. He has fire in his belly and looks like being a threat; a contrast to the leggy Harrad who tries and tries but rarely worries the opposition.
SO SHOULD BE START AGAINST TRANMERE? Maybe! I say that as he’ll have to play with Brett, and having two upfront may leave us lacking in midfield against a strong Rovers team. But maybe just maybe it’s worth a go! I just hope the Twitter posse have saved some Ronan puns up, just in case the lad bags another…
2 – A TURNING POINT FOR NICO?
Every manager needs a turning point in a season of struggle, and Ruairi’s late goal could be just that. Kevin celebrated joyously (see the pic on our Tweets of the Week), no doubt releasing the frustration built up in the last few weeks. Kevin and Robbie will need to quickly re-focus the boys for tomorrow night, as the relegation scrap goes on. The talk of togetherness and doing it for the boss is all well and good, but backing it up on the pitch again is the ‘proof in the pudding’.
3 – DAN SPARKES
Kevin’s best summer signing added two more assists to his total on Saturday. If only we could clone the winger and put him on the right as well! Dan is a real team player and flies under the radar at times; probably my Player of the Season so far (ok the choices are limited!).
4 – HIGHWAY TO HELE

5 – TRANMERE ROVERS
Rovers make the long trip down on Tuesday and will expect to take three points back to Liverpool. Last season they were a bit fortunate to snatch a 1-0, as we gave them a very difficult 90 minutes. If our defence can stay firm and Luke Young/Aman Verma get a grip of things in midfield, then we have a chance as always (that’s without mentioning Ruairi…). Tuesday night games have often brought the best out of the team and more noise from the fans….bring it on!
