Why TUFC?: Why TUFC? Wow, what a question! I was a youngster playing some local football, and my dad thought he’d treat me to a real game. Now besides a couple of Barnet games, presumably through boredom, my dad had hardly seen a football game and wasn’t a fan at all. So, despite Plymouth being in the championship, and the fact we lived in Exeter, Dad chose Torquay. Why? I have no idea, but I’m so glad he did! First game was a 2-0 win over Oldham in November of ’04, a Leon Constantine debut goal and a Martin Gritton goal was enough to give me a reason to return. The rest as they say was history…
Favourite All-Time TUFC Players:
I could name a lot here, so I’ll do an 11.
Andy Marriot
Matt Hockley – Steve Woods – Chris Todd – Kev Nicholson
Lee Mansell – Alex Russell – Chris Hargreaves – Kevin Hill
Tim Sills – Kieffer Moore
Best TUFC Memory: Whilst it’s hard to look past Wembley ’09, that will always be the best, and to be honest I can’t see it being topped. Having said that, Kev’s first ‘Great Escape’ was special.
Worst TUFC Memory:We have had a lot of relegations in my time, but the day we lost to Exeter in the play of semi final will always be the worst. And I will always blame that day on Paul Buckle, he banked on drawing at SJP, and using our home form to win the second leg. We beat them at their place; Bucks’ panicked and changed the formation – queue heartbreak.
Favourite Spot at Plainmoor: Popside, just by the concourse (family stand side).
